Lassen Land and Trails Trust in cooperation with the US Forest Service Eagle Lake Ranger District,  the Lassen County Office of Education, and with funding from the Lassen County Board of Supervisors will be offering nature camps again this summer.  Camp I is for eight and nine year old kids and 10 year olds who have not previously attended camp and will be held from July 7th-11th Camp II is for ten year olds who have attended camp previous and eleven and twelve year old kids and will be held from July 14th-18th.

Camp I kids will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Susanville Railroad Depot and take the bus to Goumaz campground.  Once there, they will explore the Susan River, hike up the Bizz Johnson Trail, play games, explore the Susan River ecology, learn how the forest plants and animals live together, and how to sustain a healthy forest.  They will enjoy an unforgettable hands on environmental educational experience.  After a great day at Goumaz, the kids will return to the Susanville Railroad Depot by 3:30.

Camp II kids will meet at the Susanville Railroad Depot for a day hiking and exploring the ecology of the area along the Bizz Johnson Trail and two days exploring the ecology, plants, and animals at Eagle Lake.  They will spend two days at Susanville Ranch Park.

Lunches, snacks, and transportation from the Susanville Railroad Depot to Goumaz and Eagle Lake will be provided for the kids. There is no fee for the camp.  Major funding for the camp is provided by a Title III grant from the Lassen County Board of Supervisors.  Additional support, volunteers, and staff will be provided by Lassen Land and Trails Trust and the US Forest Service Eagle Lake Ranger District.  The Lassen County Office of Education is providing materials.
